Tony, it's fairly normal for these to corrode, I bought a few of them, and replaced them when I changed an EGR valve a few weeks back, I put some copperslip on the new ones, in case I ever have to remove them again,(fairly likely |

Thanks for that, just picked some up from my local friendly Stratstone in Cardiff, took 3 calls and 25 mins on hold to establish if they had some and then charged 4 x the price that they were available online for (same manufacturer), cheers Landrover |

Thanks for the advice but space is a bit tight and I have neither the knowledge or equipment for welding |

Mpg gone from 26 to 28 for a mixture of urban and motorway/a roads. Definately increase in responsiveness, used to get intermittent flat spots when pulling off, much better now |

I read another thread about 2 different methods one being blanking and the other being removal and blanking.

I'm no expert but from what I can gather you have 2 options, blanking which just involves removing 4 bolts, then inserting a blanking plate and replacing bolts or full removal which completely removes valves and pipe work. It's my understanding that the end result is identical but the blanking method is cheaper and easier....just be prepared for rusty bolts!!! Full instructions for both methods are available online |

Check out bell auto services for the full removal kit, seems popular with people on this forum. A bit more kit than just a pair of blanking plates but it depends on which option you want. Full fitting instructions on BAS website. If you just want blanking plates search for 2.7tdv6 blanking on e-bay. |
