United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I did some online quotes with Admiral. The cost for the RRS on their multi-car policy was more than if I just had the RRS on its own as a single policy. Bizarre. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I was with LR Insurance for years but since the change to the new supplier they became a complete
rip-off. I have now changed to NFU (National Farmers Union) ---- You don't have to be a farmer Whistle
They were really nice to deal with and offer a great policy at a great price (They are consistantly WHICH best insurer, which should say something). Don't use their Direct (web) Service. Use the web site to get the contact
deatils for your local agent and call them, I got the best deal that way. Thumbs Up 2013 Discovery HSE Luxury - 3.0 SDV6 - Santorini Black

The best quote I have is £750 for on street parking in central london. Not sure how good that is. I am using 3 lots of NCB on 3 other cars so I have no NCB for the RRS. £750 seems ok, or is it a rip off?

Cheers DM

Precisely Thumbs Up
On street parking, in central London regardless of the area is a fairly big risk IMO so I'd be inclined just to suck it up and pay it Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Admiral.

Now they say I can get it for a bit less if I say I will take another car there in a 10 months for the multi car....which I don't actually have to follow through with. Seems a no brainer on that front! DM

As discussed many times on here there is one major deciding factor for your cost of insurance and that is your post code, you want cheap move to the Outer Hebrides Whistle

Paul - My experience with Admiral was that when a white van man ran into my stationary 3 month old RRS they immediately classed it as a knock for knock accident.

This was despite photographs taken at the scene and the other driver admitting liability to myself, and luckily, to the attending Police Officers.

In the end I handed the whole thing over to a claims management company who helped me out no end.

3 weeks ago I received a letter from Admiral acknowledging that I had not made a claim on my policy and that my NCB would not be affected.

A week ago I received my renewal notice (4 car multi car policy) only to find that due to my non blameworthy accident they had put my premiums up by 200 GBP's.

My wife insured 4 cars with Direct Line on a multi car policy yesterday for 800 GBP's less than the quote provided by Admiral..................

Direct Line are really chasing new business at the moment Thumbs Up
I just renewed my house insurance and a B2L property insurance policy with them. The ball ache was that I had to re apply online to get the best price. Their phone agents could not do anything for the renewal, but as they are chasing new business there are substantial discounts built in for new customers.
I ended up with quotes nearly £500 cheaper than the renewals ( which were fairly competitive anyway Wink ).
Just means you have to do a little bit of leg work come renewal time. Seems customer loyalty is a lost cause now Rolling Eyes ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Rip off Churchill

just renewed with Swift Cover for only £290.00 all in, the exact same with Churchill was quoted at £580.00 even though i was with them and had no claims. When i phoned them as a new customer requesting a quote they quoted me £340 !!! theiving bunch of Censored will not be using Churchill insurance ever again.

Swift cover seems really competitive with lots of extras thrown in at no extra cost. Also, unlike churchil, they did not require a tracker fitted, which would have saved me nearly £600 had i have gone to them last year.
Honestly it just seems like everyone everywhere is only interested in trying to screw you for every penny they can get out of you.

The companies i have had run in's wit in the past and will never ever use again..... Churchill insurance, Direct Line insurance, BT, Tesco.
The above are sole less corporates motivated by greed with no interest in service or the customer.

There are also some exceptional companies that i really enjoy using: Virgin Atlantic, Fantastic at everything they do.
Saxton 4x4 essex, simply the best 4x4 retailer in the country (andy is a star)
Asda : does exactly what it says on the tin !

In my book if they dont make you feel important, don't use them. 2005 Rang Rover Supercharged
Loving every minute !

hmmm. Swift Cover was founded by some ex-Churchill guys, and is now owned by AXA who as a £21bn company one assumes aren't terribly soulful. Churchill is currently owned by RBS, but not for much longer (they also own Direct Line).

what you seem to have encountered is just the typical margin game played by all insurance companies (and mobile phone companies, SKY, fitness gyms, the AA, savings accounts...) - new customers get cracking rates to tempt them in, old customers don't (at first) get the best quote. Usually calling up and threatening to leave is all it takes to get the best rate, I'm surprised they didn't catch you (they all have dedicated 'retention' departments and staff for this single purpose - SKY are masters at this.. trying quitting SKY.. nearly impossible.. they will literally give you everything for £2 a month as long as you don't leave...).

I wouldn't be surprised if Swift do exactly the same to you in 12 months time (offer you a renewal that is higher than the same quote for a new customer). It's capitalism. Actually, there was a funny thread about exactly this (in regard to warranty company quotes.. where if you wait 10 days they'll ring you back and offer up to 25% off their first quote) a while back where some people seemed genuinely offended/mortified that it happened.

Virgin Atlantic are starting to slip (as they struggle to maintain profit margins) - they scrapped the free masseurs on board and also the free pen, for example. Heathrow can't be done better than Virgin Atlantic upper class mind, straight through to the lounge with a dedicated security lane - that just takes the biscuit!
