HELP with Supercharged Brembo's upgrade from HSE | |
Thought I'd ask about this on the UK forums since y'all have a ton more experience that those of us on the other side of the pond. So I completed the entire HSE to Brembo retrofit, including new calipers, pads, rotors, and booster. When I first did the retrofit, I only installed the calipers but did not change the booster. Brake pedal felt great, short travel, firm, stopped great. I thought putting in the supercharged booster would make it even better. Right after my indy shop put them on, the pedal is much much longer even though less pressure is necessary to make the truck stop. I took my truck to the dealer to have them bleed the brakes and cycle and bleed the abs pump. After getting it back, the truck feels the same. They said everything checked out fine and all the air is out of the lines for sure. To me, what it feels like is a lot of pedal travel before reaching a point where the brakes grab. When they do grab, it's very firm and accurate and doesn't require a lot of pressure at all. The brake booster ratio on the HSE booster is 7:1 while on the supercharged is 8:1. I'm not sure how much of an increase in surface area the bores are in the brembo calipers and hse calipers, but the larger sa in the brembos should increase the pedal force multiplying factor, meaning same pedal force but more caliper force. My question: are there any other ideas as to why the pedal travel is longer with the supercharged booster and brembo calipers? Before putting in the supercharged booster, I really liked how they felt with just the Hse booster, very short pedal travel and excellent stopping power. I thought putting the supercharged booster would be even better but it seems like i've gone and messed things up.
