I don't like the level of smoke coming out of my car (2006 2.7) when I accelerate. Its only been 11 months and a few days since I bought my car from a LR dealer and I have experienced not only power loss (due to a turbo pipe wasn't securely fitted on) and now smoke

Any ideas what excess smoke is due to?

Its not just selfless reasons I want to get it sorted (I noticed a driver behind me waving his hand in front of his face) but to fix any underlying issues before it gets worse Oh wow

What colour smoke? Indicates the source and hence the likely cause.
White = water
Blue = engine oil
Black = fuel

Loss of power + smoking usually indicates split turbo hose.

I've just had a split turbo pipe which caused thick(ish) black smoke when accelerating heavily. Cost £40 to have the pipe replaced. Looked dramatic but apparently was just that. The increased air getting into the system caused the engine management system to over compensate with fuel.
