4 Cycle Carrier ?

Hi all,

I am looking at buying a tow bar mounted cycle carrier for my RRS.

I have the detachable tow bar with electrics but when looking at some of the 4 cycle carriers on the market, they state they are not suitable for detachable tow bars.

Do any members here use a 4 cycle carrier with their RRS ?
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks Thumbs Up Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

I recently had this 4 bike carrier on my RRS, with 4 road bikes - we had the additional extender on.
It was very stable on the car, even at motorway speeds Thumbs Up
Can't see anything in the 'blurb' about not using with a detachable tow bar. Confused

If you do get this one, depending in the elctrics you have on your RRS, you may need a 13 pin to 7 pin adapter Thumbs Up

Here's a picture on the car as we picked up the last passenger.......and yes his driveway/gravel is a mess Laughing

Thanks guys. I need one which tilts so that I can open the boot without taking the bikes off. DO the ones you suggested do that ?

On the 3 bike Thule carrier, was the extender for the 4th bike stable ? Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

Yes, the one above (pictured and linked) tilts away from the car so you can open the boot Thumbs Up
4th bike on the extender was very secure. IIRC it is secured at 3 points across the back and also bike 4 (outer) is secured to bike 3 via the crossbar with a lock system. Smile

I think the above is the only 4 bike system Thule do, I don't believe you can get a 'permanent' 4 bike rack from them, but I could be worng. Confused

Only thing I would say is, 4 bikes and the rack are a fair weight. We tended to hold the rack when it was tilted for access so as not to place all the stress on the tilt mechanism. Thumbs Up

I believe my mate paid around the £450 mark all in for the rack and extender kit. For me there are only 3 in my family so, the G3 Euroway was a far more reasonable option at £295 delivered.
