Freelander vs Mini

After owning 8 Land Rovers I have a dilema Confused

My FL1 is 5 years old this month and a bright shiny demo mini is tempting me Embarassed

I have a sport already so I don't really need two 4x4's - but the FL1 has never let me down and I don't have any experience of Mini's Question

The FL1 goes anywhere, only done 37k, has a soft top for summer and hard top for winter but £260 road tax and 36 mpg Sad

The mini is small but has five years free servicing, free road tax and claims 74 mpg Shocked

What would you do Neutral

We are on our 4th MINI - a Cooper SD as Ady says. We have also had a FL diesel.

We are absolutley delighted with the MINI. Build quality is awesome, running costs next to nowt (£30 road tax and 52mpg mostly round town).

For us it ticks all the boxes and is a very nice car to drive. You sit much lower than most hatches and the handling is still like a go-kart.

Also test drove the Cooper which is nearly as nice as the SD.

You're welcome to come over and have a play in the MINI Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy
Ex 2006 RRS SC - garbage
Ex 2016 135i M Sport - dream car
Ex 2003 RS6 Avant - piece of cr*p
Ex 2014 320d X Drive, M Sport Touring - ok I guess
Ex 2007 RRS TDV8 - bloody loved it
EX 2007 FL2 XS - not so bad

Keep the FL1. Don't get the Mini.

The FL owes you nothing and even if it goes wrong it'll be cheaper than buying the Mini.

If you must get a small car, the Suzuki Swift Sport is an absolute blast and actually has more than two usable seats in it. The Mini is a travesty of the name when one considers the space in the original Mini. How such a big "small" car can be so badly packaged is amazing. Seriously; try the Swift... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Another thumbsup for the mini, wife changed hers for a 500 abarth, she likes it........but it's not a mini!!
The only thing is they are rubbish/great fun in the snow depending on your skill! Laughing

But as you say the FL owes you nothing whereas you will be looking at throwing a good few hundred a month at a new car!.......I'd get the mini, you only live once!!
Cheers
