As the general feeling is that the new non-split all electric tailgate for 2012 models is not as pratical as on previous models
would it be possible to retro fit an earlier type to the 2012?
Any thoughts

If it is possible to interchange, and you have white on your 2012 model. Ill swap

However I doubt that it would be a simple or cost effective job as there would be wiring, switches, release and locking mechanism all to be changed at least. RRS 3.0D HSE 11MY - Fuji White, a few extras.

this is one where the FFRR and D4 are much better than the RRS .... why can't we have a proper split tailgate ... miss my one from the D3  2011 MY- RRS HSE - Zermatt -Ebony-Piano .... its a monochrome world

Agree ZV, a proper split like the FFRR would be my preferred choice, with the current MY12 powered version a close second. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Its probably one of the things that might make us move back to D4 at some point ... that and you can't get a bottle of bolly in the rear door bins like you could in the D3 ....

Yep, It pains me to admit it, but, I am holding out to see what the completely new model RRS will be like and if it doesn't sort out some of the "sillies" then I may go down the Disco or FFRR route. Poss even look at other manufacturers options I love my RRS but LR's inability to listen to customers and fix some of the stupid ongoing issues over the years has impacted on my previously unshakeable love for the marque. My next car will be neither FFRR or RRS if they both still don't have gearsticks by the time I change (prob 2 years).......

I suspect they may change it back though soon enough as a few others have after making the same mistake....

Judging by Autocar articles this week no new D5 until 2015, RRS in 2014 probably with a price rise to allow for the Grande Evoque..

Trouble is you look at other stuff... I had a real look at the Touareg in Escape guise and it is a good car with a great engine but the dealership experience .... well put it this way they could learn off VW France where I've bought cars before hand.

On a test drive of a Touareg .. the Salesperson said to me when i asked a question she did n't know.... well we don't sell many of these big 4x4s ... they are a bit out of fashion..... 2011 MY- RRS HSE - Zermatt -Ebony-Piano .... its a monochrome world

The electric aspect is fine. It's the fact that it's a single piece that I don't like. If they were electric operated but
