Tip for fitting new rear wiper blade

My car was in for a service the other day, and they pulled the old money making stunt of saying my wipers needed replaced, did I want the front ones fitter for £60??, did I heck!!
They are not too bad, and I would probably have changed them in the next few months anyway, so I bought a set of valeo for the front and a Trico rear £36 for the lot. The fronts took 2 mins to fit, but when I took the rear one off , the new blade wouldn't fit, as the plastic lug that goes on the end of the metal arm had a "trapdoor" on it which had to swing back to lock it in position, it can't do this as there is a cover over the whole arm stopping the door going over and locking
In position.
So tip of the day is pop the old lug off the used blade and pop it on the new on, then it all fits straight on!!!
The part no on the blade clearly indicates it is for a disco 3,4 and RRS, but no way will it fit!
Hope this helps someone in the future
Cheers

I've used 3rd party blades on my RRS . And I've used LR blades. And the LR blades have been better so far. Sure, if the rear one smears a bit it's not a big issue, but I can't live with a smeary front screen. And so far, the LR blades have been more smear free than 3rd party ones. No idea why, but that's how it's been. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes, the LR ones are good, mine lasted 2 years and still usable, I don't know what price LR are as a part on their own, I just wasn't going to hand over £20 odd quid for them to fit them! The valeo ones came out quite high in a magazine test, so we'll see how they fair!!
Cheers

Mine are genuine LR replacements and there is no makers name on them.

Put some of this stuff http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/car-car...tAodfCuGZw on your screen and your wipers will last forever (well not quite) but it will give you a 100% clearview screen, excellent stuff. Thumbs Up
