My MY07 RRS used to boast in the manual that the Key Fob was waterproof to 30ft (or something similar).

my guess just from looking at the design is that the new keys aren't (a 'speaker' type bit and a fully pop-out spare physical key) ... I seem to remember the claim too ============

My RRS MY12 key fob doesn't look like the "new" one shown here. It's got a black gloss back to it and a chrome silver strip down the right hand side and doesn't look water proof to me.

My MY12 doesn't look like that either. Its also a high gloss black case with a bright metal edge on one side.

Yes, whilst I would not want to test it to the limit it certainly survived me falling off the boat into the March temperature sea on Saturday. Probably 2 minutes before I got back on board and a further 5 minutes in soaked clothing before I realised they were in my pocket. 2016 RRS 4.4 TDV8 Autobiography Dynamic in Montalcino Red and Stealth Kit |
