Timing belt - I've obviously messed up :-(

Well my timing belt change has gonne horribly wrong and I haven't a clue why. The rear belt was a doddle, then I came to the front belt and I can't rotate the engine now. I am now in need of a good mechanic, somewhere near to Honiton where I live, so even if you're based as far as Exeter, Taunton, Yeovil or Dorchester can an experienced RRS mechanic come and visit me? Obviously I can't take her off the drive now, she's stuck Big Cry

I'm never touching another car, ever again. Time to call in a pro! Please help! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

CAM shaft and crank shaft has gone out of sync, what if you get access to workshop manual on TOPIX for 24 hours for (£9)your model year and use it to get everting in sync.

Thanks gents. udash I would have probably tried that a year or so ago, but the amount of bad luck I've experienced lately makes me very wary of trying anything new. But thanks anyway.
I'll give Woody32 a go, thanks DrRob.
I followed the How-To section meticulously, I still can't see where I went wrong. Absolutely nothing moved, markings were still in their exact places after installing the new belt. Fed up Evil or Very Mad Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Did you slacken off both cam belt pulleys, and if so did you tighten them again..if you had the pins in and you did not move the crank then it should have been ok.

Update

After several months off the road, looking sad, she's finally up and running again! I have to say thank you to all of you that have tried to help by giving suggestions but this job was obviously too difficult for me, plus breaking a rib didn't help in my DIY efforts. I therefore employed the services of Kris, aka "Woody" from the Disco forum and this guy is phenomenal. My timing was way out and within a few hours he had everything resolved. Whatsmore he's an incredibly friendly, mild mannered chap. He has since helped me iron out an array of issues, all arising from not having used the car for half a year, such as a sticky turbo actuator and fault codes galore. Now I understand why people recommended him.

A message to anyone wanting to do the front timing belt themselves...think twice! And if you're in the South West, ring Woody! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Great stuff but how did you manage to get the timing so far out - not really possible if the cam and crank pins are used. 07MY RRS TDV6

garrycol I have no idea, the crankshaft didn't move, instead even with the pins in place the camshaft pulleys moved. Headscratcher!

pictures up as soon as car detailed Thumbs Up Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

I'm intrigued, do you think maybe the cam pins could have possibly not been quite in right the way through? , they are a riggle ?

That was definitely the issue, I simply inserted the pins and assumed that they were in the correct holes. I must admit that I was more concerned about the crankshaft moving, because everyone was telling me that if it moves I'll have problems, so I probably focused less on the camshaft pins. I would not do this again, once bitten twice shy! Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

I had big issue with crank lock and it actually came out when tightening the crank nut so I bolted it through starter hole . When is finished I couldn't get it out !

I'm hoping not to have to do that bit again Laughing
