The best speed camera detector??

I'm surprised that there is no facility for speed camera warning on the RRS sat nav system, so have to ask - what do folk on this site think is the best warning device?

Road Angle springs to mind, but there are so many different models.

Don't get me wrong, I don't tear around the countryside and always obey speed limits in residential area's. I just don't want to pick up any points for what may be a couple of seconds lapse in concentration whilst driving.

I've got a totally clean licence and want to keep it that way...... Wink

Jim

Oooh, will be funny to see conflicting views on this one EssexJim Wink

I've not got a device in my RRS, but if I was looking I'd probably take a look at Road Angel first too. Only thing I will say, wife has speed camera alerts on her TomTom and although useful, it can gets on your t Censored ts bleeping alerts all the time. Whistle ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

My guess the reason there is no in built in facility is to do with International regulations..... In Spain if you're caught with a radar or camera there is an instant (approx) 300 euro fine and confiscation !!

I use a Pogo Alert. Has been accurate and coupled with its small size is perfect.

It also has the added bonus of detecting laser guns but you have to be quick to react Shocked

It might depend on the age of your RRS, I bought myself a pogo alert+ a few weeks back only to find that it just won't work with the 'acoustic' windscreen in my MY12 RRS, it just about works if you keep it to one side where there are no heater elements but even then not very well, takes the best part of an hour to log on to the satellites, I bought an ariel for it but still no joy so I went back to my road angel connected, this works fine but again only if put tight to the side of the screen. Funny thing is the pogo works fine in the FFRR which also has a heated screen, after using both for a while I have to admit that personally, I still prefer the road angel. 12MY RRS Orkney Grey HSE Lux

Interesting. I use the Pgo in my RRS (MY 2008) with ehated windscreen and it works fine, probably much like your FFRR.

I haven't tried the Road Angel so can't compare Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

hardwired a snooper S2, rarely use it because the thing that catches nearly all the systems out is the mobile laser sites (small vans that pull up where ever they like) - by the time your system senses them it is (usually) too late

laser JAMMER on the other hand..... Whistle Whistle

rrsboy - You shouldn't be encouraging anyone to speed, you know the damage one of, WHOAA hang on, what am I saying. I meant to say, get a Road Angel Pro Connected - great piece of kit and also warms of where mobile sites can be set up, if you turn it on that is. The new Road Angel Vantage looks good too, just can't turn itself on and off (sounds like someone I know, now where is swimbo).
