I had to replace the air compressor bracket and took the compressor out. The pipes at the rear end of the compressor would not co me out (yes I know how it is done) and had to cut them off. I have put in a connector on the smaller 8mm pipe and it will go back in OK. However the 10mm connector and the o-ring in the air compressor is damaged and will require replacement (I am tempted to get a thread tapped into the housing and screw in a simple brass connector and push on the plastic pipe and clamp it to stop it coming off. Also as the 10mm pipe is now too short I am going to have to buy an new section from landrover as it needs to have the correct bends in it.

Looks as if the large one is the inlet and the small the exhaust.

Thanks Bob - what looks like the large one is actually the small one - I had the pump running with both hoses off and the 10mm (top) hose is the exhaust and the 8mm (bottom) hose is the inlet. The 8mm looks larger in the pic because what you are seeing is a secondary part of the housing that the port is inside. I was at a specialist hose place today explaining that I could not get that 10mm hose out of the fitting - he said they are not actually designed to come apart once installed - hence the need to cut the pipe. As both of these pipes are low pressure there is no real need to have hi tech connectors that do not work - a simple screw in brass connector that you could push on a rubber hose would work far more effectively than what is provided. Fairly symptomatic of the whole RRS/D3 design really - in many areas designed in complexity that is not needed - electronic handbrake is another example. Whay have to pull half the console apart if the EBP does not work - why not a little flap you open and pull a manual leaver - hmm I digress. Cheers Garry 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |
