RRS Blow out

On an earlier post I was going to detail how the 'Dynamic pack' was on and off and in sport mode on and off ....on a good old blast on the mountain roads from Barcelona to home......
Before I had even started my scientific experiment the reality was at about 120kph I had a blow out..... at first it just sounded like increased road noise and the car was very stable actually it drove normally no signs of anything wrong ..... I guess the bloody DP was doing it's job too bloody well... I had no idea of a blow out...
The first I knew was when it started fishtaiing wildly with the rubber disintigrated ....with the tyre half off the wheel and smoke bellowing out the back......

So thus far in summation I would say the DP may have saved me from going into a roll or close to it..... made the car a whole lot more safe and manageable and i'm so glad I had it on ...
On the downside it masked the blowout to just a bit of additional road noise......

SO GUYS YOU KNOW WHAT TO LISTEN OUT FOR IF YOU HAVE DP [b]and a blowout!!
I then had to get recovered... as the hard shoulder on the motorway was too small to even fit the car let alone put a spare on.... and had to limp home at 50mph..... doubling my 2.5 hr journey to 5hrs.....

Thanks Bean.....

I was very fortunate as it could have been so much worse....it happened on the straight.... and no other damage to boot...
Both walls of the tyre stayed in place and protected the rim... the centre pretty much fully detached and reduced to rubble....The shredded tyre didn't damage the car.....
So got off very lightly.... and had summer tyres put back on again this morn !! 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I know how you feel....... I had this happen to me at motorway speeds. I should have reacted to the vehicle pulling to the right slightly, however I thought it was the camber of the road............ then BANG!! Shocked

Surprisingly I was able to negotiate my way across three lanes of traffic onto the hard shoulder, and there wasn't as much as a scratch on the alloy (saved by the very thin rubber strip that was left. Whistle

James Thumbs Up

Hi James... that looks very familiar and scary Shocked Shocked
As I mentioned... I think the DP masked the blow out (rear) ... never fishtailed b4... never want to again.... but i'm sure that DP also helped save the day.....
