it's a warning system.... its the job it's designed and supposed to do.....Warn you of objects you might not have otherwise seen......
That's like saying to someone who's cruise control malfunctions...... have you tried driving with the accelerator
Or if you don't know your indicator light and brake lights arent working..... Did you use hand signals and wave a red flag.... Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

correct Thumbs Up

when you select reverse the parking sensor should definitely come on rrs - after all my wing mirrors still dip so the car "knows" i've asked it to reverse!

it's not reversing fast that fools it i'm not talking about the speed of the car whilst in reverse- it's the speedy selection of the reverse gear it seems that sometimes stops the parking aid working Shocked Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?

my 'ass umption' was to read your own words, in your original post

"lets just say i wasn't reversing at a cautious speed .....who needs to with park assist... "

but never let the facts, or intelligence, spoil a good rant. Hey look you even called it 'assist' yourself. Neat.

I think that is true..... or think I may have a problem with the system though....I turned the engine on and off twice in the garage.... and the parking sensors still did not register.... although they did the next morning again....
Maybe it just takes a little time for the system to reset itself ... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

Mr H - there was a 'bug' on pre-MY10 cars (old interior) that meant if you did the following, exactly, the system would not re-arm. Very dangerous and fixed in MY10:

1. reverse (aid activates)
2. select N or D
3. while in N or D manually dis-arm the aid before the auto disengagement at 10mph
4. select reverse again
*SYSTEM DOES NOT ARM*

Whistle

for MY10 here's what the manual says about using the parking aid

the manual calls it an aid too, remarkable

they were going to print "don't be such an idiot to think that this will save your bacon, always remember, mirrors and engage brain" but for some reason they thought that unnecessary. Watch your coffee - it's hot.

maybe you should apply the same principle to travelling in reverse? Whistle ============

there might have been a step between 3 and 4 that involved not driving faster than 10mph too Question ============

was the car in P or N during engine on/off? If in R and there is a system fault, you get a high-pitched tone and the parking aid light flashes rapidly.

Thank you for some sense...

The car was returned to P on two occasions and then turned off completely to ignition off .. given a minute and then re started....
Both times I engaged R & D and tested front and rear and the sensors failed to work at all....
No tone ... no flashing lights....

If it happens again I will try and shut down in R Thumbs Up 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
