I'm picking it up without it being cleaned so that I can spend a couple of days on it with the Zymol (my daughter's doing her DofE Gold that weekend, so I'll have plenty of time).

Then I'll fit the stormers (I'm just off to buy a 3 ton trolley jack)

Then I might do a lap of Wales to run it in (I actually quite like that bit Confused ).

Oh, nearly forgot..........I've got to fit the Tasmod's. Bow down

Oooohhh......I feel like a kid at Christmas

Excellent news Bob - I remember being in the same boat - back of Trinity taking photos and just wanted to drive off there and then.

Gold DofE Thumbs Up ... I remeber doing that many years ago. What an excellent scheme. I went on to do my Mountain Leadership Certificate, but have let things lapse over the years Embarassed Rugby took over, well that and the beer Wink Best wishes for your daughter, its a tough award and well deserved.

Stop by for a coffee in your new toy once you've picked it up - i'll probably be out the front washing mine or cutting the lawn - if it ever stops raining Evil or Very Mad

Cheers

Thanks Martin,

DofE was something I was never offerd at school, unfortunately. I think it's a great idea, and I'm really envious 'cos I love the outdoors and climbing mountains etc.
The best I've done is lead a team on the 3 Peaks (23 hours 7 mins). That was really something!

I'll stop by if I see you out the front, I'd like to have a closer look (listen?) at your exhaust (hope that doesn't sound too rude Embarassed )

No probs Bob - re exhaust.

Re 3 peaks - 22hrs20mins

It really comes down to how well you fair with traffic from one peak to the next. It was some time ago now. Started with Ben Nevis - started approx 5pm ish .... so up/down just as the light was going - then night time drive down to the lakes .... it was about 3am ... set off in dark ,easy the 1st hour or so anyway with or without map or daylight . Then it was off to Wales - up and down Snowdon like a whippet.

Mind you no where near as quick as the RAF/Army lads but they cheated using a helicopter between peaks Shocked

Martin,

We had the same sort of timing.........set off about 5:30pm. Got cramp on the way up BN. Dodgy knees on the way back down. Wrong turn in the Lakes. Wrong turn on the way to Snowdon. Far too much ale consumed that night. Slept on the floor in a youth hostel. Almighty hangover next morning Banging Head

The event was organised by the Fire Service, and a mighty fine operation it was too (military precision). It wasn't possible to gain time on the road because you were allocated 6 and 5 hours driving time, and were held back at the start of the next peak if you arrived too early (not that we did Embarassed ).

Raised a fair bit of money for charity though Laughing

Oh, and your car still looked clean tonight!
