How to fit a G4 Expedition roof rack roof rack???

Help Please
I just bought a g4 rack on ebay in new or at least unused condition. it came with a fitting kit ( allen bolts and plastic seats )
The instructions are sub ikea
I am fairly handy but its hard to make sense of them, there is no text just diagrams with random symbols.
It looks like
I remove plastic caps
take out the plastic strips
drill 19mm holes through it
attach the adapters
Sit the rack directly on the roof and then bolt into place.

Have I got this right? or do I need to fit roof rails or some other adapter or fitting kit?

I tried the rack in place and the front seemed to sit high and not follow the contours of the roof correctly.
It would be great to see any images of the rack fitted on a rrs so I can see what it should fit like.
I would be grateful for any help
Thanks Range Rover Sport tdv6 2.7

Expedition Roof Rack*

Part No: CAB500130PMA

For vehicles with Roof Rails, Fitting Kit (VUB504230) is required. Maximum payload 54.3kg†.

*Roof Rails and Crossbars are required for all Land Rover roof mounted accessories. Objects placed above the roof mounted satellite antenna may reduce the quality of the signal received by the vehicle and could have a detrimental effect on the navigation and satellite radio systems, if fitted.

†Maximum payload equals the load capacity of the roof mounted accessory.

Firstly are we talking a genuine G4 or the expedition roof rack?

Have you looked on the topix site at the Land Rover fitting instructions which sometimes are not help

I thought you fit the roof rack track system to the 4 bolt attachment points on the roof and clap the rack to that? Mike

Great pics, Very similar but it is still hard to tell whether they are fitted on rails or direct on to the roof of the car.
