ACC (Adaptice Cruise Control) not working

I have just purchased a 56 RRS HST S/C and when it went in for a service the guys said there was a fault code on the ECU saying the ACC wasn't working. On closer inspection the unit was angled down which isnt a major issue, but this has allowed water into and now doesn't work.

Land Rover want £1,600 Shocked for a replacement! I decided to leave it as I never use cruise control and the guy I was buying the car off said he would knock a bit more off the price. I thought maybe I could pick up a used one on ebay, but can't find any. I am also going to try some scrap yards, maybe they've had one in which has been involved in a rear or side shunt.

Do any of the sponsors sell the ACC unit and how much? And does anyone have any good ideas on anywhere else I could pick on up on the cheap. Its the unit behind the bumper which is faulty. LR Defender 90 - gone

Ebay, £300 ish

Although to be honest, the ACC is a pain in the arse, hate it on mine. Normal cruise control is much better IMO. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne.

be caefull, have seen fault to be proved to be before the warranty, before you buy clear, every single code and historical ones, warranty companies are getting savy.

Cheer's for the response guys.

I thought about buying a complete bumper off ebay, however talking to the garage the ACC unit is actually attached to the car rather than the bumper so would not be integral. LR Defender 90 - gone

I didn't mean change the whole bumper, just buy the bumper throw it away and use the ACC module to fix your car Thumbs Up

Slightly off topic... but is it possible to disable ACC and just use normal cruise control on a Range Rover Sport which is equipped with ACC? Is there a button / setting to do this anywhere?

rr5port - I was meaning the same as you do, buy a bumper not worrying what condition it is and remove the ACC sensor, however the sensor is actually attached the car frame behind the bumper and the bit on the bumper is just a cover. So when you remove the bumper the ACC sensor stays on the car and does not come away with the bumper.

whealey - I'm not sure on this however my Radar sensor doesnt work (the rest of the system does), but it will not let me set a speed and use like a 'normal' cruise control, so I don't think there is a setting for this. LR Defender 90 - gone

Thanks Leigh.

Has anyone else had any experience with ACC and being able to disable the ACC bit and just use it as normal cruise control?

On mine 56 SC , you can have cruise only or ACC two separate buttons on the wheel, as in my other post ACC is a pain in my opinion as too many peeps like pulling out into your nice gap, so just have it on cruise only whenever i use it Thumbs Up RRS S/C, Factory Fitted Full HST kit, 22" Overfinch SS, Carbon Vents & Grill .. - FOR SALE - PM me for details

Any chance of a pic of the two buttons? I want to see if I can translate that to the MY2011 one... my dad is driving a MY2011 SC at the moment, I'm getting the MY2012 at the end of October. I literally can't wait!!! Smile

Here you go, top left button activates the ACC ( sets the distance ) and the middle one adjusts the speed, bottom button turns on the cruise initially Thumbs Up

Ha - I never knew that! I've used cruise so many times in an 05 RRS and never noticed the difference.

I'll give it a go in the MY2011 and see if the same happens.

Thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it.

I'll post my findings later
