Battery Charging

Is there a way to tell if your battery is funked? If I leave the car idle for anything over 4 days it is as flat as a pancake. Was dead today and just stuck it on the charger - 11.7V it was at Shocked

Don't want to get a new battery if there's something that might be draining the power rather than the battery being duff - is there any way to tell?

I think it's the upper tailgate problem. Battery draining seems to have co-incided with the upper tailgate release stopping working. Ordered new switch from ebay - will check after that.
