Headlights or side lights turn on 90 degrees when turning

Guys

Quick question to new RRS owner please

It's so cool that the lights show the way when turning corners when at low speed or indicating. Was not aware of this feature when I bought the car.

Is this a standard feature/option and what is it called please.

Don't you just love these cars.

I had a V8 M3 recently and an S Class but not a patch. TDV8 HSE, Remap (+45 BHP + 100 Nm), Taylored sport exhaust system by Pipe Werx

i think they are just called corner assist lights, theres a bulb that turns on and off as oppose to the head light turning 90 degrees, your head lights will turn around corners when driving if you have dynamic xenons fitted.

It's the Xenon Adaptive Lighting option, Cornering lights just above the indicators, plus the main lights move with the steering input. I have this option and its really useful, except the other day approaching a mini roundabout I was driving straight on but a car pulled out in front of me. Apparently due to her thinking I'd indicated to turn left owing to the corning light coming on as I turned to negotiate the roundabout! Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

Do a search... discussed many times here.

Cornering lamps were an optional feature in the early days but could be standard now.

Basically, the cornering lamps are designed to illuminate the direction of travel (a spread of light from the vehicle at approximately 45 degrees to the vehicle axis) when cornering at low speeds. This is controlled by the left hand steering column multifunction switch with the lighting control switch in the headlamp position and the ignition switch in position II. The cornering lamps are deactivated if the vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph (40 km/h).

On AFS headlamps, they are called Static Bending Lamps and in addition to being controlled by the left hand steering column multifunction switch, they will also operate using inputs from the steering angle sensor. Smile Malaysia Boleh!

Pretty much as above....... Cornering lamps used to be part of the Adaptive Xenon option, however depending on age/model cornering lamps were added as standard for vehicles with standard non-Adaptive headlights.

Hi James,

Mine's MY2010 Sept 2009 (59 plate) - will this have been standard, or do you think mine should have adaptive xenons as it has corner light feature? Whistle MY2010 3.0 TDV6 HSE, Zermatt silver/Ebony/walnut, privacy, side steps, rubber mats and standard otherwise...

Looking at your sig, you should have cornering lamps, however Adaptive Xenons are an option on 3.0 HSE.

It seems to be activated with the indicator as long as the speed is less than 30mph. Throws light out at pretty much 90 degrees illuminating kerb stones, hedges etc. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
