MY2011 3.0 V6 Just died!

Was entering a dual carraigeway from the opposite side turning right.

Car in Dynamic Mode, Sport mode and in Auto.

Accelerated over and turned onto the outside lane, put foot down and car shot off but at approx 50mph power all died , nothing was available - resembled stagger home mode when fuel is at 0) and after about an hour (ok it seemed like an hour seeing the lorries in my rear view!), maybe 5 seconds, power cut back in and she was shooting off like a scalded cat again.

No warnings on dash and it hasnt happened since.

Any ideas team? Now - MY11 RRS Autobiography TDV6, Orkney gray, tints, steps, daylight running lamps and allllll the toys!!!

I notice you say it was in Auto, but I have personally had the exact same scenario. I accelerated to approx 40 ish but had accidentally pressed one of the paddles, meaning it went into manual mode, and because of it being in 'Sport' it held the gear. Sounds like the same thing, however if you are 100% sure that it was still in Auto then perhaps not.

Thanks James

I didnt have to select any gears after the dip in power so I dont think I hit a paddle. My revs just died and i held the throttle down untill it came back online.

Looking at your scenario if the gear was held why do the revs die? Would the car not just stay at the hightest safe revs or take over and drop a gear?

In fairness the revs didn't die, it seemed to hit a rev limiter, however as I was accelerating it gave the imression that the revs had died......... however they flat-lined!

Thought I'd mention it in case it could have been a likely cause?

James Thumbs Up

What James says could be the case, however, if you accidentally touch the paddle it goes into sport and comes back to auto in about 20-25 secs? But Steuart64 says the power came back in 5 secs. Vadim A.
