I went for Alive Tunning as I got chatting to Gary at a Land Rover show and he demoed his own TDV8 RRS.

He did mine at the show and I was well worth it. Cool

Other speak highly of BAS too so I would say whichever of the two you go for you wont be disapointed Thumbs Up
Both are forum sponsors too Very Happy TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten

What they are offering and what you are getting is nothing like the service or product or technical support or experience that you get with BAS or Alive and when it comes to motors like these i recommend you don"t buy cheap products thats when things can go badly wrong Shocked

Motors like these? let's remember we don't have performance cars... a RRS does not warrant £600 to be tuned... no way!

This is not just a chip flash it comes with the hardware to put the car back to standard spec at any time and remap when you want too. Also the hardware s also a fault reader so not just a flash and yep as for service this is why it will be eithe alive or bas

Slightly surprised to hear you say this; "tuning" itself means absolutely nothing without understanding exactly what you are getting for your money.

It would be good to know who is offering tuning at £300 and then we can compare the offerings in terms of what's done, what the outputs are and what is the perceived value for money (a very individual choice I'm sure).

Off to trawl the Bell Autos site again...a link in this thread would be good if anyone knows it! Also, anyone interested in a Group Buy proposition if Bell Autos are interested?

Iain Thumbs Up

The Alive kit - at £510 plus VAT - Alive Tuning Remap Interface Console (ATRIC) sounds interesting as a concept - I really like the idea that I can switch between different maps biased for economy, power, torque, or even MOT emissions, although I'm not clear how this is done and how quickly it could be achieved.

They don't appear to give and figures for power, torque & mpg for the various tunes.

and looks very similar to:

The BAS kit - at £619 (inc VAT?) - has a lot more detail on the process but no detail of figures for power, torque & mpg for the tune or whether various tunes are available. It also looks like changing maps is not a two minute job - certainly not on the fly.

Changing maps with the BAS interface is a 2 minute job (for those reading this thread for info) and it's an "engine off" upoad so no, not on the fly.

why anyone would want to do it on the fly I'm not sure TBH

And given the choice between an un-known/un-proven £300 map and a mapper with the background and references of BAS for £600, I'd only trust the latter with my £8k+ engine Thumbs Up RRS gone

Also remember that the price for the BAS and Alive packages gives you the ability to change the tune and perform fault code reading yourself.

With both companies you can also opt for a straight one off remap which reduces the price as you are not buying the interface.

If you are going to any of the Land Rover shows then both Pete @ BAS and Gary @ Alive normally have show prices if have you motor remapped while you are there.

Thats what I did with my Alive remap, I got it for a very good price at the Land Rover show in Peterborough last year Thumbs Up TDV8 now with extra grin factor thanks to Alive Tunning: Gone but not forgotten
