It's the adaptive cruise control telling you you're driving to fast to close to the vehicle in front. |

It is connected to the ACC system, however it sounds like you have Forward Alert switched on. FA works even when the cruise is not active and warns you if you are getting close to the car in front or coming up behind too quickly (not to be confused with the parking aid system though which is different).

Adaptive cruise warning driver that he or she is closing on the vehicle in front and the system can no longer maintain the set distance its been asked to.

ok, found out why it just started, looks like my liile un had pressed the button for forward assist, its next to the central locking button, amazed i never saw the led |

just gonna say that, mine is a button on over the radio 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater ))) |
