Need advice help on replacing compressor pump

ok, 2006 RRS, already had dealer do the rebuild kit on the compressor, now I got the EAS light this morning. I'll try doing a hard reset but my guess is the compressor has fully failed. Now I'm not going to go back and pay $900 at the dealer, I want to replace the compressor myself. So questions:

1. If I get a used compressor do I still need to update the EAS software
2. If I get a used compressor do and DON'T need to update the software do I need to replace the EAS fuse/relay?
3. If I get a new compressor I understand I NEED to replace the fuse/relay (do I have to update the software)?
4. If I put a new or used compressor and relay in can I drive it to a indie or dealer to have them do the software update?

Sorry, just really need to understand my options.

thanks for your help.

NOTE: Part RQG500090 is the latest specification air compressor with a stronger exhaust
valve return spring. When the new air compressor is installed the air suspension control
module software must be updated to the latest specification, using WDS disc 13 or later.

NOTE: The air compressor assembly, RQG500090, can be identified by a yellow label on the
end of the assembly. The yellow identification label will be replaced by case stamped
identification.

Should always replace relay for the £3 it costs.
