Now is the time to switch off the Auto windscreen wiper system. Because if the wipers are frozen to the windscreen when you switch on ignition they will try to wipe, Either tearing your blades, Or Burn your wiper motor out.  itisme

Duuuh... Recently bought an RRS -10 V6 HSE... Haven't got it yet...

In the Volvo's (XC70, V50, V60R) I've had recently you have to turn on the automatic wipers after turning off engine...

Hmmm... I wonder if it is the same setup in my Jag XKR Cab... It normally doesn't see rain so I haven't tested?

I dislike auto wipers. They either go mad at the first sign of a drop of rain or they wait until its monsoon conditions. Good old fashioned variable intermittent wipe which is selected by me is what I want. After all, it's me looking through the screen, not the computer! /rant 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

On the D3 if you pull the fuse out for the auto wipers then the stalk reverts back to the old style intermittent wipers with selectable delay. The down side is that you also loose the auto lights function.

Not sure if it works on the RRS tho, worth a try.

Harry - good call, need to ensure mine are in the right position.

RRSTDV8 - sometimes progressis not all it's cracked up to be.

Lee - definitely worth a try - but having just found the auto dip facility with the main beam lights, I hope that's not effected also!

You would still encounter this problem in any carthat hasn't got rain sensors, If the wipers are not switched off when parking up at night.  itisme

I have a deep scratch in my windscreen caused by auto wipe activating without water on the screen and a grain of sand under the rubber. They work fine when it rains but also work fine when it is not raining and a bug splats on the screen. Maybe there needs to be a squirt from the washers before the wipers auto operate.
