very common mate, usually the passenger side as its closest to the side of the road. From factory these are riveted on and over time the rivets break away from frame of the running board, most people replace them or refit them with a handful of self tappers.

na it will have fell off as a number of the rivets will have broken off, i susepct its getting a bit of purchase form one or more shalf of the rivets left on the metal trim. Id be more worried about it coming off at speed if its not secured properly, new set is 300 ish or get them refitted profesisonaly if your not handy enough to give it ago, its pretty straight forward happened to all of my previous sports. |

I will try this tomorrow... the metal strip is now off... its driver side... So I drill holes in the metal strip which has fallen off then drill holes in the side step so they match up and then screw together? maybe 4-5 small screws? |

Just drill the side step and put a few self tappers into the strip, u could do a small pilot hole if u wanted. Prob easier to drill bot atnthe same Time, ie on the car. |

Out of curiosity at what age do they start wanting to drop off and are they covered under warranty?

no idea, a small one that worked with the screws i had in the garage If your not technically minded just buy a new set mate, they are only 300 ish plus fitting for genuine ones. |

I'd say you only want something like a 1mm to drill a pilot hole. You just want something to guide the screw rather than have it shoot off at an angle. The metal is quite thick so I glued and clamped it.... I will leave it an hour... a friend of mine is very good with things like this so if it doesnt glue he will drill on the weekend. |

I'd do both as unless your using tiger seal or a similar bonding product with a bit of substance so it I expect it won't last long. |
