Incorrect Load Rated Rims

Just a heads up the dealer who sold my car had fitted aftermarket Stormer style 20" alloys. When one was pulled off we found that they were rated to max load of 665kg which in Aussie makes car unroadworthy and illegal. Dealer when confronted with this replaced them with again aftermarket Stormer alloys, these have 815kgs max load which is ok. So there are out there rims for RRS at incorrect load rating. Be careful when buying as most tyre/wheel dealers I have met don't know/care what they are fitting.

815kg is still low so take care with potholes etc.

Anything less than 950kgs would worry me RRS gone

The standard 18" rim is rated at 940kg - so I guess you are worried Smile 07MY RRS TDV6

with the 18 you have a lot of tyre wall to cushion any sudden impact.. when you're up to 20 (and especially 22) the rim needs to be stronger... Thumbs Up RRS gone

Am waiting from reply from LR Austraila as to what is the "official" minimum rating for the rim. The original LR 20" spare rim has 860 kgs max load stamped on it. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile

Dealer has done their own investigation, end result is that new genuine LR Stormer rims are on order from UK.
The dealer was pretty good to deal with, once all details etc were known they have been pretty quick to act. They have done the right thing. SWMBO owns this car I get to drive occasionally Smile
