MY 2012 Autobiography

Dear All,

I have said hello in the introduction thread but wanted to post a more comprehensive post now that I have completed my first 1000 miles.

So, my last car was an Aston Martin vantage, sold to finance a house purchase and for the last few months I have been in between cars driving my wife's ford Kuga.

As I looked around for my next proper car I quickly discounted another Aston for various reasons. Two seater car when I have 2 kids (this was my wife's point rather than mine), High running costs e.g. 16 MPG and the clutch went on mine at 14,000 miles and this is not covered by the warranty. So what to buy. Any other sports car would IMHO not match up to the Aston so I needed to go for something completely different.

Hence the trip to the Landrover dealership in Reading. Initially we went there to look at the Evoque, but it wasn't long into the visit before my wife said, "It's not for you" (Note she does think it is for her but that is another story!") But, she said "That" pointing to the RSS autobiography "Is for you".

In the showroom was a MY 2012 RRS autobiography with additional privacy glass and of course all the standard toys. Rather than go through to whole purchase process let me cut to the chase. I received very good service from Mark Jeffery who was responsive and helpful face to face and then by both phone and email and from doing the deal to pick up only took 5 days. This allowed me to head off to Cornwall for the week in my new car. Must also say he remained responsive and engaged post the purchase to sort out a small issue with the tailgate and paper work.

Anyway back to the car. The trip down to Cornwall was utterly painless. The RRS ate up the miles and was a total joy to drive. The adaptive cruise control worked like a dream, the in car entertainment system is intuitive and the sat nav found the remotest corners of Cornwall with ease. I really enjoyed engaging dynamic mode along with the sport setting and I find the car spends most of the time with these settings activated when I am not on a motorway.

Since returning home the car is my daily drive from home to work and copes well both in town and the country roads in-between. There is definitely enough pace when you need it and overtaking is not a problem. Noise when driving is low, note I am comparing to the AM which was suitably loud and I am getting about 27 MPG.

So a few weeks in to ownership I am very happy and looking forward to many more trips around the country in a very comfortable car.

Best regards

Josh

I know the dynamic setting (which is on the buttons now from the old dial system) but when you say sport - is there a separate button for this also?

Josh Bear that is stunning. The Autobiographys are a bit special. As Jonny said the AB interiors are beautiful. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.
