Had To Replace The Rear Differential
Greetings...
It's been quite some time since I have visited this Forum, nice to be back...
I recently heard a "growling" noise from the drive train of my 2006 RRS. I promptly took it to the dealer for a diagnostic and they determined that the rear differential was toast.
They installed a new unit, paid by my extended warranty, and I'm back on the road. My RRS has 75K miles and I'm curious, has anyone else experienced this problem?

Not very common these days, but regular fluid changes help with longevity. Same with the gearbox, although LR say they're sealed for life, but they're not really.

Yes bought my 2006 RRSport in July, two weeks later diff making horrible noise took too dealer, said diff corrodid needed new one bill was 1200 fitted they quoted.
Gave car back to people sold it to me said don't want it back till fixed.
Now steering feels loose when turning pulling away etc.
Mine had 45k couldn't believe diff only lasting that many miles.

They do not claim they are sealed for life - dunno where that myth come from. Have a look at the service schedule - 240,000km or 10 years and half that if towing.
