Disco/Q7/Merc R Class/ XC90

The July 2006 issue of What Car? Has a full test of these 4 4x4s this month and it is quite interesting. Naturally D3 wins but it isn't that clear cut as it is criticised for not having a powerful enough engine (they tested an auto TDv6SE) but basically the verdict is that D3 is very hard to beat and all the others come last!
There is mention elsewhere of the TDv8....................
According to WC? it is to appear 1st in the RRS in the Autumn before the RR and D3 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

In the RRS 1st? I thought they desperately needed a new engine for the FFRR Confused

I might pick up a copy of that. 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

Andy, I too was a bit surprised to read that. It may be that there are still enough of the BMW engines to be used to keep the FFRR TD6 going for a bit longer. There was a contract between BMW and Ford to take so many engines and they may not have used then all yet. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Okey dokey, I'll look out for it. They probs had it at the newsagents but he practically shut the door in my face, so I had to go to spar. I think the newsagent gets fed up of me going in buying Landy mags, he drives an X5! 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

Either in WC or Autocar it's confirmed that production of TD6 stops this month.

That is a fairly clear signal that V8D will supercede it.

There is going to be a huge demand for this engine with FFRR, RRS, D3(?), XJ, S-Type(?), XK(?) and that's just within PAG.

Is there any further invilvement with PSA Group as with TDV6? The V8D is based on TDV6. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

Also Defender is getting a new power plant this year............... haven't heard yet if it will be the TDv8 or the new 2.2 4 pot that PSA/Ford have developed and is rumoured to be an absolute cracker of an engine. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
