United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Maya Gold
Winter Wheels

So, having taken on a new car with a replacement set of 20" MY10 wheels with brand new Conti tyres, I'm loathed to chuck them but am being niggled by the thought of lack of capability in the winter.

Two options: swap out the tyres for 20" AT tyres and keep the Contis for the summer, or spend more and get a set of 19" wheels and put some ATs on them and I can just swp when I'm ready.

Choices over rubber, I've narrowed it to either:

A set of Cooper Zeon LTZ 275-45-R20:

or,

A set of General Grabber AT 275-40-R20:

But for the 19's, I'm limited to:

A set of A set of General Grabber AT 255-55-R19:

or,

A set of Pirelli Scorpion Ica and Snow 255/55/R19:

The latter two also need an eBay scour for a set of alloys, which is an additional expense I'd rather do without.

Can you fit 55 profile tyres on 20's in the arches, or am I limited to 45 profile as the max depth?

Dr Rick

On 20's you are limited to 40 profile and on 19's a 50 profile Sad

I have gone for 19's in winter with m+s tyres and use the 20" contis in summer Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I purchased a set of wrangler f1 and alloys from a forum member who had replaced them with 20's Thumbs Up

My plan was to buy snow and ice tyres but due to lack of stock last year I used them as they were and now decided not to spend anymore Very Happy Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

That's because D3 is meant to have 45 profile on 20's & 55 profile on 19's - RRS is not Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

but the running circumference of a 285/35/22 tyre is the same as a 275/45/20

So what's the problem? RRS gone

If you deviate from manufacturers recommended tyre sizes you may invalidate insurance and warranties. You could also face police action in the event of crash investigation Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

^^^ Technically, yes, unless you have told the insurance company that you are running different wheels to those that come out of the factory.

I recently did my insurance for my RRS with Direct Line and they asked if the wheels on the car were factory standard option that it was delivered with. Anything else would be deemed a modification Rolling Eyes ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
