Why so many nearly new TDV8's for sale?

Hi guys
Just happened to be browsing on AutoTrader yesterday to try and assess the prices being asked for Diesel Sports around 1 year old.
Didn't spend too long looking but was surprised to see that the majority advertised appeared to be TDV8's - certainly on the first few pages of my search results (ie 1 year old diesels).
I was under the impression that most facelift models sold were TDV6's.
Any thoughts on why there are so many TDV8's compared to TDV6's (3.0)?

I was told by one dealer, that their group had bought a whole load of TDV8's from LR given that the engine was being phased out on the MY2012 (SDV6 or S/C only).
I seriously considered a nearly new TDV8 recently, but the urge for a brand spanker ruled over my sensible head. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

As above

Plus the 3.0L TDV6 is a lot closer to the V8 in everyday performance... and cheaper to buy/run/own (laughs)..

So it's going to be the more popular choice RRS gone

I can totally understand why there would be more people buying the 3.0 TDV6 than the outgoing TDV8. So if there are more 1-2 year old TDV6's around wouldn't you (relatively speaking) expect to see more secondhand 3.0 TDV6's compared with TDV8's of a similar age?
Maybe Land Rover used a lot of TDV8's 'internally' as staff cars etc (rather than TDV6's) and they are now on the secondhand market?

Typically I'd expect companies/private buyers to keep a car 2-3 years before swapping again.. so maybe next year you'll see a higher % of TDV6's coming up.

Yes these TDV8's are unsold, year old LR fleet director/manager cars RRS gone

I bought a MY10 TDV8 recently from an LR dealer and was told it was an ex LR company fleet car. Seems LR put the V8 in the MY10 cars but did not offer them for sale unless a customer specifically asked for one, I guess to not muddy the waters with the 'launch' of the new V6. A mate bought one new last year but it was a specific order and I was offered a new un-registered V8 in July this year but it was emphasised it was a "one off special order" rather than them lose a sale. I opted for the s/h one as it seemed a bargain.

Last week I went on a LR experience day and the tutor's immediately wanted to know how I had got my hands on a MY10 TDV8 - it was only the second 'customer' car they had ever seen! '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8

This is a cheap one if you don't mind the colour, even if it has a mirror cap missing Laughing Strange interior combo though, its as if someone has swapped the ivory seats for black Confused

Just as we started looking about 6 weeks ago I noticed quite a few dealers advertising 2010 model TDV8's. All had similar reg numbers and mileage around 14k. We were spoilt for choice and found one that matched our requirements exactly.
It is an ex LR management fleet car and we have owned it for 4 weeks now.

Stunning car in a stunning colour combination (Santorini Black and Ivory) but aim biased. Mr. Green

I will post some pics at the weekend once I figure out how to post them.

It sounds glorious and pulls like a train. Brings b ack memories of trundling up and down the Motorway in a FFRR when I wasn't paying for the petrol (before the Highways Agencies started). Whistle

my MY10 TDV8 was an ex LR management car so there may be some truth to LR using the last lot "internally" Thumbs Up ============

They seem to have favoured black/ivory as that is the colour of my ex-LR TDV8. '10 Range Rover Sport TDV8
