2005 4.4 V8 HSE possible purchase.

Having a look at one this morning, any pointers please? 46k miles. Silver/green with tan interior. Many thanks, Rich

get it as cheap as possible would be my advise on top of the std things to look out for on a RRS (do a quick search on the forum)

Green is inherently difficult to sell on and the 4.4 was a bit of a damp squib for LR, as it was a big thirsty petrol engine but without the performance gains of the 4.2 S/C, they only produced the car for 2 and a half years when switching to the TDV8 diesel.

The glass trade is around 15k with the retail being 18k ish (assuming its and 05 plate) Having said that if resale is a factor for you (ie unless your keeping it for life) id be wanting it way cheaper, otherwise have a hunt for a slightly higher miles TDV6 Diesel. Plenty cars out there at the moment but the good ones will start to get picked off as we progress through the winter, so dont hang around.

Thanks, the guy is asking 16.5k for the car. This is top end of my budget. Would I get a TDV6 for that kind of money without interstellar mileage though?

I think at that sort of money your looking at very high miles TDV6 or S/C petrol mate, u wont get anywhere near a TDV8 as suggested above. If the 4.4 is cheap enough its worth a shot id be wanting it for a little less than 16.5k however just because of the colour mainly as green is very hard to sell. On the positive side the 4.4 didnt loose any money this month which shows demand starting to increase and i expect the prices will climb on them over the coming months and the car is very low miles so providing it been well care for with a decent SH your getting a good car.

Thanks X5, you've been very helpful. Well, I've now seen the car and it is in very good condition, The colour, Arctic Frost, with a tan interior works well, for me anyway! Needs a good clean on the inside. Service history present. Drove well, very refined. Think I'll put an offer in and see what happens. Will let you know outcome. Thanks again, Rich.
