Maintenance Catchup Advice - Sketchy history

Afternoon all,

A few months back I bought a 2009 (2010 MY) RRS, 3.0 from a friend-of-a-friend in the trade who took it in as a part exchange. It didn't cost a lot, and I'll be using it as a bit of a workhorse (a bit of car trailer towing, plus family duties). It's in fairly good order and drives remarkably well for 135k miles on the clock. However, history is sketchy with the last stamp in the book being 2018 at 80k miles (full LR history up to that point - just A's and B's). The story is that the last owner had a friend do maintenance for cash in hand and never had any receipts. That old chestnut.

It's had new lower arms and tank cradle recently (I can see they're still shiny) and I put it into my local small garage for an initial check over. They did rear discs and pads and a pair of front bearing assemblies (as I noticed one was whining). I put a new set of wheels and michelins on it, as a set came up at the right price nearby on fleabay.

I think it's safe to assume that it needs the cambelt(s) and a decent service, but I wanted to see what else you guys thought made sense to do at the time. The car only stands me £6k, and I don't want to go nuts on it, but I also would like to get a few years motoring out of it, and show it a bit of care. Would you suggest doing diff oils etc, and main transmission oil? Anything else? I realise it's a bit of a subjective question but any general advice is appreciated.

All the best,

Rich.

Belts should be done yesterday, if not sooner, obviously. Otherwise, I'd do a gearbox flush, and change the diffs and transfer box fluids too. Otherwise a full service at a decent LR indie specialist would do the job and ensure decent filters etc. are fitted. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Megaflush the main gearbox. Bodsy is your man. Comes to you. Does transfer and diff oils too.
Change the PAS fluid and coolant and brake fluid.
Basically do all oils and filters Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Thanks! Do you have contact details for Bodsy, and do you know if he covers East Yorkshire?

Just some feedback on this, following the major service, plus cambelt and and all fluids (including gearbox, transfer box and both diffs). I'm amazed at how much of a difference it has made. Seems to be rolling much better and getting average of 32mpg where it used to get around 28.

Plan to put a pair of struts on the front and a new compressor, then see how it goes. Is it only a landrover specialist that will be able to do suspension calibration? It sits a little low at the front, and I don't know if that's just down to the knackered shocks, or if it will all need calibrating.
