2007 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black
Supercharged - problems EPB & Alt

Greetings from Brisbane Australia

Well after four years of happy 2007 RRS SC ownership the car has decided to play up.

Initially the problem seemed to only be the infamous Electronic Parking Brake EPB. I never had the screeching noise that others talk about but the dash would light up and the EPB fault message appear. I have set about ordering a new one from the UK (half the price of one here in Aus) but in the meantime another faulty has made itself manifest.

With the EPB fault the car would still start though sometimes it would slowly turn over as if suffering from a flat battery, then die altogether. A disconnect and overnight charge and then it would start fine.

After a week or so of that behavior it wont start at all, even with a fully charged battery and an attempted jump start.

It sounds like it has a direct short with the engine not turning over at all, the occasional click or two and a dash lit up like a Christmas tree then dying altogether

My local independent RR tech over the phone thinks the Alternator has gone as well

So a question before I starting hitting the credit card......... does anybody have any suggestions for a replacement RRS SC alternator, any recommended alternative brands that I can try and locate her in Australia.

Also does anybody know the spec of the original alternator (model, brand, part no) so that I can try and source one of those if I can't get a better alternative

Any thoughts as to whether the the battery will have been compromised by all this draining and attempted recharging and whether there is a link between the EPB and Alternator problems?

Thanks in advance

Chris
