Franchised dealer or not is irrellevant, EU law sorted that years ago. Have you not heard the consumer rights phrase "Fit for purpose and last a reasonable length of time" If your gearbox went after 4 years a good solicitor should have them coughing up on this basis. |

Well I did labour this point it has to be said as the dealer's 'Business Manager' didn't seem to know the difference between 'Approved' and 'Select' warranties. I will double check though cos the invoice doesn't specify. Picking it up tomorrow so still time - thanks for the tip |

Got it in writing now! Def. £695 for additional 12 months LR Approved warranty. Not only that but price of the car stands up well against anything else I found from independent dealers AND private sellers |

Another question - if you buy a car privately that's been out of LR warranty, can you get it back in? If so, does this involve getting it inspected/serviced then paying? |

Just had my LR Warranty quote for 2006 HSE with £41k milesat £685 for Select Extended cover and Warranty Direct quote £695 for Extra Care & Franchise Dealer Labour rates.
