high mileage

Hi im just wondering what risks are involved in buying a high mileage rrsport diesel (100,000miles plus) as there seems to be a few around in my budget with full land rover service history etc advice and what to look for appreciated.

With proper servicing mileage no problem, watch out for the expensive belt service which from top of my head is seven years or 105k.

Thanks for the reply and good to know however why are private seller,s and dealers advertising rrsports with 100,000 plus miles at(in my opinion silly prices £18,500+)or are the price they are asking ok as my budget is only £18,000 max not for petrol though any more input appreciated.

To be honest, if i was to buy a vehicle with that sort of mileage (which i wouldn't) i would not be able to sleep at night just wondering when not if when something is going to go wrong, the previous owner/s has already had the best out of that vehicle and has sold it on to avoid a big bill if it went wrong, however if i knew the owner and full history of the car then that might give me a bit more confidence in buying one with that mileage, How many miles do you do a year? There is that to take into account too, Ask yourself, is buying a high mileage car going to be false economy? If you can, always get one with a good warrenty.

Probnably no more risk ythan buying any other marque.

Most modern diesels are {supposed} to be good for 200k+......its obviously the other components that could prove problematic (the gearbox is allegedly pretty bullitproof). Just take out a decent warranty and sleep easy at night.

I wouldn't pay more than £15-16k for a 100k+ mileage muncher.......try the auctions, could prove a cheap buy? Mr. Green L322 Big Daddy SUPERCHARGED 5.0 Autobiography - Here & Now!
