4 Wheel Alignment - Done

Hey Guys,

I picked up my RRS last Friday and chuffed to bits with it. Apart from it had a wobble on the steering wheel and a bit of a pull to the right.

I spoke to the dealer I got it from and they sent me down to the local tyre place. They balanced the wheels and then did the tracking.

Well I drove out, result! Wheel wobble pretty much gone but still pulling to the right and the steering wheel is now slightly off centre.

I go back and they do it again and its now pulling to the left a little...

Fed up with this outfit they I call the dealer who tells me to go to a diffrent company. So off I trot to be told they wont track RRS or anything with Air Suspension. Now im getting a bit fed up as I had spent 3 hours of my day driving round!

Speak to the dealer again and tell him to get it into Range Rover to sort. He speaks to them and is told its £300 but most customers dont want to pay that so there is a place locally they take them too!!

My dealer books me in there and I go down there this morning for a full four wheel alignment using a hunter laser alinging machine.

I had this done on my S2000 recently and the diffrence it made to that was amazing.... This is the same the car now doesnt pull either way and they rebalanced the wheels AGAIN as they were still wrong.

I am now a happy chap but just wish my steering wheel could be straight again! LOL its only a few mm out but still... I guess Land Rover could take the wheel off and reposition it if I wanted them too...

Here is the two comparisons this morning the first sheet is before and look at how far the steering is out..!

Yeah there are some real cocks about when it comes to alignment, I had rear camber issues on a D3, local place told me it wasnt adjustable....... ended up sorting it myself with a magnetic angle guage on the disc. 08 2.7 RRS "S"

There are a few tyre centre's out there who don't have a clue how to ballance 22" wheels, and the last time I used Malvern tyres in Cheltenham to do a 4 wheel alignment, the steering wheel was so far off middle, it was triggering a transmission fault!

I use my local dealer's recommended garage now..and so far so good... RRS gone

Did you managed to get the steering wheel sorted? As mine is now off centre too. Big Cry

I was told once it was off it was a nightmare to get it back...

Hey Pat,

I had mine done at Guildford Tyres.

The total bill was about £60 for the tracking and the balancing. \

The only problem for me is I think the previous owner liked going up kerbs quite hard and the the front nearside wheel has a buckle on it. So even though its been balanced and there is no wobble or shake on mine up to about 50mph after that I can still feel a wobble through it.

The dealer is going to have it back next week and I suspect the outcome will be a new wheel.

I have to say though the guys at guildford tyres were great and explained what they were doing and spent the time explaining about the wheel issue. 10/10

Johnny
