By bringing the vehicles you have avoided one of the larger rip offs in terms of car prices I am not sure about the Melbourne area, but around Sydney there are plenty of good LR specialists company, so assume you can avoid the main dealerships

That's the main reason for bringing it to be honest, over here it's worth £ all, at least over there it actually has a decent value. For what I'd lose on selling it I can pretty much ship and pay the duty. Add on all the compliance & road worthiness checks, engineers reports, uncle tom cobley an all checks and overall I'll not be that far out of pocket.

Get a LPG kit fitted here - with the Govt subsidy it will not cost much. Also Vic has the cheapest LPG in the country. 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior Last edited by garrycol on Sat Jul 16 2011 12:33pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Certainly a possibility should I need to do a high mileage again. We're hoping it'll become our 2nd car though rather than the main one and used more for touring / exploring. The addition of a long range tank may be more useful than having an LPG tank fitted. Ex-G4 Challenge RRS HSE, BV55 YZE. Subtle shade of orange ! Now registered YZE481 G4RRS in Melbourne. |

That's my neck of the woods, I'm just off Nepean Highway in Cheltenham! Will no doubt see you driving the G4 around when you arrive! |

Where will you be working Mike? I lived in Sandringham a few years ago, loved it. |

No idea where I'll be working yet, I'm the one having to find a job when I land. Wife's workplace is in Braeside, hence looking for somewhere between there and the beach. Just us 2 and our dog, so easy / close dog walking is important for us. I'm a water pipelines engineer / project manager, which usually means leaving early in the morning, hence the easy / close dog walking requirement for the mornings (strange how you decide on locations eh) and also the need to be near to the transport links initially, as I've no idea where I'll end up working so need to hedge my bets on that front. Ironically I work for one of the largest construction firms in the UK and we've managed to pick the one state in Aus where they have no operations, so can't transfer.

Mike, in case it's of assistance, the local water authority for where you're looking to live is South East Water..
