Hi and welcome to the site, don't be scared off by what you are being told, by all means take good advice, as you know its no sports car despite it been called a sport take a bit of time to get used to its size and weight before you put any of your family at risk, you will soon realize it is quite a capable vehicle and can be thrown around if you know its limits If you can get yourself on a LR experience day, they are advertised now and again for free, you will learn more about your motor than you would of ever known, just drive it, get used to it and start enjoying it |

ok thanks. When people say corners... do they mean like 90 degree corners? I have literally swopped my maserati this am and took it for one last drive of its life. The difference between this am and this pm were polar opposites. I dont think i took it over 55mph today as was so wary of the " roll".

Skyblue, i don't know what people you are talking to, but ive never heard of anyone rolling a rrs in normal day to day driving, if you lived nearer me i would gladly take you out in mine and show you exactly what it is capable of, Just ask foxy, a member on here |

My wife rolled our Discovery on spilled diesel doing 30mph and since then she won't drive my RRS's despite the fact that I have taken her up the hill at quite a high speed to show her the margin of error she has with the sophisticated set up compared with a 200tdi.

You wont roll it unless you are trying to ! and once you are used to it you will be suprised at how good and competent the chassis is, ideal for the little one ! 08 2.7 RRS "S"

It is for real yes. I was told by more than one person (ok 2!!!) that it is a completly different way of driving a 4 by 4 to a NON 4 by 4... not a 4 by 4 and a maserati. Its just they said you cant do what you do in a normal car in a 4 by 4. I guess they are wrong or possibly talking about former perhaps less advanced 4 by 4s? I appreciate from this thread that so long as i am not unstupidly reckless then there is no reason to worry. Re test drive... yes i did test drive it.. i drove it for about 15 mins around north london at speeds of up to about 25 mph as there was nowhere that was not congested. I appreciate the help and responses. I am sorry if it sounded a little stupid but i thought this would be teh best place to ask my questions. i took it out again today btw and i really like it . Its a 2010 model. not a 2011 model. |

Try to think of it the other way around, in other words what would happen if you had the masserati off road? It simply would not work, they are worlds apart. the don't do the same thing because they are poles apart. Check out the depreciation for one thing the RR is solid in comparison. Why would you want to try and go that fast around corners that quick. I have have driven a 911 and I also have a CL65, totally different and I know it and accept it. The RR is truly a wonderful car to drive and own but don't try and thnk of it of anything other that what it is!!!! |

If you've just bought your RRS from a L/R dealer, ask for a free LRE voucher and book yourself into Eastnor, preferably when the weather is appalling. Then you will be amazed at what this vehicle is capable of. Most people who drive RRSs and Discos are unaware of the capabilities of their vehicles and Defenders are always perceived to be the best. I guarantee you'll be awestruck! |
