Fully concur, i learned far more in 4 lessons with a professional instructor at a reputable shooting ground than the intervening period of shooting clays with my mates, many of whom where top shots, but i would say lousy instructors.. Learning the basics from a professional will most probably lead to you getting far more enjoyment than frustration by not understanding the small things that are effecting your shooting, and most importantly will ensure you can handle the gun with confidence and safely in different situations..
