The RRS I used at LR Ex was not high spec, just had the optional funky diff thing.

Personally i wouldn't go anywhere near an ex LRE car .... they have led in most cases hard lives for the mileage they have done.

If the dealer did a fully service, brakes and disc change I would have no problems, they look after them in terms of servicing and normally have a few options added on to there spec |

Its an HSE 3.0 TDV6 I forget the mileage but its between 10k and 15k. Looking at the options most things have been ticked. |

Just that its got loads of optional extras. Of course, thats a good thing so its tempting. The car is still under manufacturers warranty but once thats out, am I likely to be faced with big maintainance costs as components had a hard start to their life. |

IIrc the plate may be a pointer to it's heritage, being a seasoned offroading type and having done Eastnor several times I wouldnt be inclined to touch one ! All the gubbins under the bonnet etc full of water & mud. |

Firstly - LRE cars (those that are released to market) are not actually given as hard a life as you might think, they are also maintained to a much higher standard than any other car on the road, save for possibly the emergency services. For an example, if they need new brake pads - then they will get discs, pads and new fluid. They are also washed, cleaned, inspected and serviced much more frequently. All the LRE cars ive been in (and im confidene in saying every model for the last probably 10 years) have been top spec, with all the main "popular" options Land Rover Manufacturing has many cars it uses (press cars, demos, mules, test cars, show cars, pool cars etc etc), many dont see the light of day in the normal retail network - being crushed, some are sold off to a company who then resells them, a few are made avaliable to the dealers. Then there are employee cars, they are often the more popular colours (silver, black etc) if they are the company cars, limited mileage, good spec and rotated often - but they will be more exposed to a normal hard life. I wouldnt be unduly put off from getting one, no more than buying any second hand car...lets face it - just because a mom owned a d4/rrs for 12 months and ran up 12k doesnt mean it had an easy life...short cycles - high speed - low mechanical sympathy etc Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery |

Thanks everyone for all the replies.
I notice you refer to Land Rover Manufacturing. The one that I am looking at was registered to "Land Rover, Land Rover Fleet" with an address in Corby NN17. Does that give you any clues as to its background? The thing that I'm worried about is that suspension, brakes, etc, etc are likely to fail earlier because they've been worked harder. Also, the egine running time will be longer relative to the mileage and also as Andy R said "All the gubbins under the bonnet etc full of water & mud." Any more feeback gratefully receieved!! |

Best bet, ask one of these insiders to get you a Land Rover Caviar Enquiry doc. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

No I wouldn't get an ex-LRE car. Mainly on the basis that they are nearly all silver (of sorts) and high engine running against shown mileage.
