Latest telephone scam ?

Telephone Scam warning - 0203 318 8706

I received a phone call this morning from a Peter Clark (strange name as he was very afro carribean sounding and could hardly string two words together in English) who said that he was a Microsoft Accredited Partner and that my Anti Virus software had reported errors on my system. When I enquired how my PC had sent him an error message giving him my name and telephone number he hung up.

Of course this is all Censored . Apparently, they get you to grant them remote access to your PC and install software which renders your PC useless. They then offer to upgrade to Windows 7 and Office7 remotely - charging a hefty premium for dodgy software. A Google search confirms there are similar stories but always the same outcome.

1471 produced the London tel no. 0203 317 8706 but it doesn't accept incoming calls!! FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Had a call today about my Sky Television box. It was a short conversion which ended when I pointed out I do not have Sky.

i had the sky TV call, hows it doing, HD been clearer, great isn't, your going to be without it and have to pay for it horror horror, run for the hills story

until i said for £8 a month i could save it and buy a box on eBay if i ever do have a issue

but of course in real life, I will have sky out prior to september as i'll develop picture issues intermittently and have my warranty extended for 3 months FOC Whistle

I usually play with them a little by pretending I'm interested or not fully understand them - they soon lose interest and hang up. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

Another one at the moment is a supposed call from your bank and asking you to go through security. Evil or Very Mad

If you are cautious and refuse they hold the line open when you put the phone down hoping you ring your bank to check if it is genuine. Shocked

They then pretend you are through to your bank and you give them the information Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I won't speak to any of my banks or building society if they call me, especially when they ask for me to confirm my identity

I let both barrels off at some indian call centre based BT Broadband helper when he phoned me back to see how the line was on my BT Infinity service at 10PM Shocked

You know how it is when your sat down relax and the phone rings late on, you think it's a family member who is ill or something.
