Dealer & Trade in advice please?

I'm very excited - well I was.

This morning I'm supposed to be collecting my 2010 HSE Sport from my local Stratstone dealership, however I've had a bit of a set back.

I'm trading in my C Class 350, the salesman has been very helpful, but his boss came across as a bit of a Del Trotter. The most they could get for my car as a trade was £14k - and they were doing me a favour giving me that .

C class has full Mercedes service history, lower than average miles and is basically immaculate.

This morning I've logged on to WeBuyAnyCar.com and they've offered me more for the car. Only £500 more, but it's left a bitter taste in my mouth and a feeling of distrust.

I'm calling shortly to discuss the options, to see if we can come to some sort of deal. I 'get' that a business has to make money (I own a company myself), but there should be some sort of give and take I would have thought? Otherwise your customers won't return!

Question is really, am I being stubborn for £500? Could webuyanycar.com do its "checks" and offer me far less?

Should I got to another dealership for a valuation on the car against a similarly priced sport?

Do I turn a blind eye and go get my new car?

Cheers, JB

Once you get to webuyanycar depot they normally offer you less by all accounts. Once your in the RRS you won't care about £500 or anything for that matter Very Happy

I have found that when I have shopped around for cars that you may get offered a bit more in part-ex at one dealer than another, but this is offset by any discount they may give you on the 'sticker' price of the new car. I think the cost-to-change is a far more relevant figure. ---------------------------

I agree with the above.

I never worry about the px value or the price they have on the screen, it's the difference I have to pay change cars.

It's doesn't matter if they give me a great px price against an overpriced example or a poor px against a realistically price one then.

IMO you will need the £500 to go in the repair pot Rolling with laughter

500 is nothing in the scheme of things. Its not worth losing a nice RRS for, no matter how much of a Del Todger the Sales Manager is being. You can try the walk away, sometimes it works but sometimes you have to go back with your tail between your legs because you can't find another RRS which is as nice.......then its been sold.

So, go and get it, and tell them that you will never go back and you will never recommend them to anyone else. If YOU have the nice motor, YOU are the winner, they are just knobheads. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

WEBUYANYCAR.com and places like them inflate the price they are actually going to give you for your car to get you through the door......bare that in mind......If you were actually going to sell it to them they would knock a fair few ££s off that initial offer for sure. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

If you were due to collect today why is the p/x price an issue as generally this is agreed when buying the car not collecting.

It's on my drive Smile sorry about the delay in responding - I've been playing!

Got an odd knock though - it's this usual? I takes foot of the brake and accelerator, I get a rhythmical clunk, then another clunk when I accelerate. Not sure if it's the e brake or it's something more sinister!

I wouldn't bother with a WBAC price Mike

Exactly.

Do your homework before striking a deal otherwise you end up with buyers remorse.
