About to buy my 1st RRS - Opinions please?

Hi

I am about to buy my first RRS with a budget of around 25k. I have found this one from a dealer in Manchester, is this a good price or do you feel that I can get a better deal? I'd like a removable tow bar so maybe I could get that thrown in?
the car I'm looking at is at Williams in Manchester - Any experiences?
black HSE 2.7tdv6
Dynamic pack
Cold climate pack
56000mls
£25990

Also,
I am looking at the 2.7tdv6 model due to the fact that I do circa 12000 m/way miles a year, long journeys between cumbria and aberdeen for work so I am looking for reasonable mpg, currently getting 25mpg from an old 3.0lt hilux.
I would plan to get the aftermarket re-map for the 2.7, does this help with the sluggish ness that I often read about? obviously coming from a hilux I am not looking for a sports car just something that is really comfy for those long journeys and will cope with the aberdeen winters.
Does anyone know how long the engines last if properly serviced?.....and for a 56 plate would I be better buying private or going with the peace of mind from a dealer?

any other tips appreciated.

Thanks

I would only buy from an authorised LR dealer with at least a 1 year warranty, you could save a few punds from an Indy and end up paying 1000's in repairs if its a bad'un. MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Good advice Chris, but what about owners like us when it comes time to sell ours,I know mine is pampered and has everything done to it that is needed and probably more,re what a dealer would do,as others on here also. There must be plenty of non dealer bargains to be had.Just know what to look for and you should be ok.

What year is it?

A lad that works for me has a 2005, 55 in silver. It's got just over 60k miles on it and is a 2.7 HSE. He has been getting trade bids of less than £18k Whistle

If thats the case I wouldn't bother Shocked

For a few £k more you would get a private sale TDV8!

Dont be put off by the MPG, you are talking a few miles per gallon difference that is it, the performance is worlds apart Thumbs Up

Just saying what I would do,I can't even buy a brand new one without lots and lots of hassle never mind one from a private seller or Indy dealer.
Mine's just come back worse than it went in this morning Rolling Eyes
They have managed to find me a glove box lid in the right colour though so I suppose there is some progress Rolling Eyes MY2011 HSE Santorini/Ivory/Piano Black/Privacy Glass/TV .Sadly gone.

Mine was just such a car hence why it sold in 3 hours. But if I was buyingnone again now, as much as I know now, I would def buy with some warranty, even if I negotiated off 1K, I would use that to buy a warranty....

Thanks for the opinions guys.

Williams are a landrover dealership, from the website it says that the car will come with a one year warranty, I suppose that I could also extend this at time of purchase.
I am after a removable tow bar and they are quoting me £670 (fitted), I wonder if I could barter that into the price?
Also, any idea of servicing intervals, it's covered 56000mls, is there a big expensive one due soon?

Is the 2.7tdv6 really that bad?? I've read on here about the re-map that can be carried out, does that bring the engine up to a decent performance level without risking damage?

I am also thinking about using pentagon to apply some privacy tints if I do get the vehicle, they seem to get good press on here.

Thanks

My 2.7 flew....don't know why, but i don't know to this day if was mapped or not......I loved my car, and a RRS is the same in terms of comfort, cruising, looks tec, regardless of engines etc

Depending on how soon the next service is due LR may do it as part of their Approved Used scheme

I hated it, but they did sell a few so it's personal choice Whistle

remapping will invalidate any warranty if it's found................................

As Nick said, mines plenty quick enough aswell, not quite sure how fast people want to go,but as a rough guide on a fairly normal size 4 way junction if I knock mine into S I can be touching 35-40 or as good as by the other side of the junction from a standstill.
