Dust Problem

Hi all.

I was wondering on all your views on this problem i have. Due to the dry weather the roads are dusty at the moment which is fine but i seem to be collecting dust on my back parcel shelf plus the tops of the back seats and head rests. Is this a comman problem with the seals between the boot and back of the car. When it rains the back does not get wet plus i have had a look at the seals and they seem fine, soft and spongy.

Does this happen to anyone else?. Really want to get it sorted before the winter comes in case of prolong damp and wetness does seep into the boot area. RRS TDV8, 22 rims, Privacy Glass, Premuim ICE plus Leather, Sun Roof, Stornoway Grey.

I've been getting dust collected on the parcel shelf and top of the back seats too, but I have been driving with the sunroof open a fair bit to get some fresh air while it's been nice. I also tend to leave the boot open when I am at the allotment so it's easy to get stuff in and out, so I'd attributed it more to that than anything. Have you been driving with the windows/sunroof open?

I've never had any problems with condensation, either from the rain or when it has been misty, which we had a fair amount of round here late winter/early spring.

I have been driving with the sunroof open most of the time plus we live in a farming community so maybe its the dust in the air coming through the sunroof and collecting on the back parcel self. Will drive with it closed over the next week and see what happens.

If not then the seals must be Censored . Maybe LR cover that under warrenty?. RRS TDV8, 22 rims, Privacy Glass, Premuim ICE plus Leather, Sun Roof, Stornoway Grey.

can not imagine dust passing the seals, i would say its coming from the sunroof. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

By chance I've just had my car in for a service today, and so just in case I asked them to check the seals anyway. They visually checked and saw nothing untoward, and blasted it with the power washer and couldn't get any water past the seals, so I doubt that any dust is coming in that way.

It's most likely sunroof or windows, and the dust is more likely to settle at the back as it gets buffeted that way by the incoming air.

Definitely sunroof - if you've ever seen a wind tunnel test you'd see it as clear as crystal - the air flow drops straight in behind the deflector. If you have a window open as well its even more noticeable.

Same vortex principle that Dixon uses in his cleaner to separate dust !!

Yep its the sunroof. Also had a go with a pressure washers and no leaks in the back.

As long as i know its that and not seals which have gone then a clean every so often wont harm

Cheers all Bow down Thumbs Up RRS TDV8, 22 rims, Privacy Glass, Premuim ICE plus Leather, Sun Roof, Stornoway Grey.
