Help Aircon

The wifes Toyota Auris is blowing warm air with aircon set to coldest setting, i have checked the level of refrigrant and that is all OK, i know it is not a RRS issue but I thought somebody may be able to offer advise.

If not a simple fix then still under warranty so guess it is a trip back to the dealers.

Many thanks

Could be a number of issues but firtlsy I would check the Relays for the ac then move on to the heater valve but to be fair if the car is still under warrant get it booked in, that's what it's for lol

check that you havent over filled with refridgerant , because if you overfill then it works in reverse
and runs warm

and makes the car labour alot

if you have then find the shrader valve and release some ( pst i didnt say this Wink )

or get someone who can recover the gas

then it should work fine Thumbs Up

Ok so booked it in for tommorow, when i spoke to the service lady first question she asked me was have you had the aircon serviced, no was my answer and it has always worked fine until the weekend and also the system is fully charged with refrigerant.

So question is - what are they likely to throw at me if it needs to have parts replaced, we cannot do these under warranty as you have not had it serviced, does the warranty of the aircon not fall under the overall warranty of the car?

Any advice greatly appreciated so i can be prepared.

Thanks

Air con is mostly excluded from warranty, best idea is to check your T&C's.....

So you are saying that aircon is excluded from most manufacturers warranties Shocked , now that i find very difficult to understand and would be very suprised as it is an itegral part and fixture of the car, do Land Rover exclude it from their warranties?

Also noted that when sitting at idle there is no flutuation in RPM when the aircon is switched on and off so now thinking that it may be an issue other than refrigerant which is at the neccesary level.

Right I think it best to start from scratch here.

When you say the refrigerant is at the correct level, how do you know this?

The only way to determine a correct charge is to recover the refrigerant and weigh it out.....do you know the charge level of your car? Most vehicles hold a matter of grams.

Now I assume you have checked the obvious such as fuses etc first off?

Have you confirmed the operation of the flaps in the ducting? You have a flap that switches hot to cold depending on set point.

I know you say the car is set to cool but is there a temp setting on e vents themselves? Some cars have a setting that if not switched to blue will not allow coolant through.

If climate control the likely to be the vent motor (diverting hot/cold). If AC then could also be the flap but also cable. If AC then see if temp dial feels like it has resistance?

James Thumbs Up

Hope it's a simple fix for you and you get it on warranty.

The amount of calls I have had about auto ac recently is unreal but it is simply something we do not do as a company

Update - What lovely those folks are at Toyota, think it may have been a loose connector but did a full service including de gas and re fill, also added some dye to see if there are any leaks and told me to run it constantly for 2 weeks and then take it back for them to check for leaks again.

And did not take a single one of my pennies Thumbs Up
