Welcome to the wacky world of Land Rover fault finding. Firstly do not panic and secondly don't take it straight to a franchised dealer where you will be ripped off.

That fault code is just a generic code that doesn't pinpoint the problem. So if you can't fix the issue by trying a few simple things then take the car to a specialist who has the equipment needs to read Land Rover codes.

It may sound crazy but the message you are seeing may just be a result of a low battery charge state. So the first thing to try is fully charging the battery overnight with a smart charger. Just driving the car won't do it. The temperature sensors are the thermistor type which work by voltage change and the various ECUs interpret the voltage as a temperature so if the voltage from the battery is too low a fault may be reported although there is not really a problem.

Other things to check are if the brake light bulbs are working and are of good quality and the correct specification.

The brake pedal switch can also cause problems and it is a £10 part easily changed DIY.

If none of the above work then check the wiring to the transfer box. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
