2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
Width of MY11 compared with MY7

I've a 06 reg RRS HSE and I've just (nearly) signed on the line for a MY11 HSE replacement. BUT despite being assured that there's no difference in size after the 2009 facelift, I've just seen on the LR website that dimensions for the car are now 2004mm where I've seen reference to the old model as 1928. I make that a three inch difference which, given that I've about 1/2 inch clearance (literally) on the hill up to our house between the big old stone walls, would be a bit of a killer fact. Can anyone reassure me or confirm my fears?

Thanks for the tip (and the photo!). I suspect the difference is that the bigger measurement is from mirror to mirror (folded) and the smaller one is 'excluding' mirrors ie from the widest points on the bodywork. So if there is an increase post facelift it'll only be a couple of centimetres - mind you that would still get me touching the wall!

Are you measuring the 1/2 inch clearance with the mirrors out or folded?

If with mirrors folded the MY11 is 3 inches wider as mentioned, but with mirrors out the MY11 is 1/2 inch narrower.

2007 RRS width = 1928 mm mirrors folded and 2170 mm mirrors out.
2010 MY11 width = 2004 mm mirrors folded and 2158 mm mirrors out.

According to Landrovers web site, although getting numbers right is not a something they are famous for.

Having read what I've just written it does not make much sense, unless the MY11 mirror bodies are much thicker and so explaining the 3 inches difference in width.

2006-2007 figures were inaccurate, so perhaps difference explained by both folding mirrors and perhaps the correct measurements now being used.

At one point a Freelander 2 was wider than the RRS
