The oven is nothing to fear, gents: it's really a piece of cake to separate the lenses..

The kit came from jazejeff (semi-well known RRS wheeler-dealer, with whom I have a bone to pick still), and included the tails. The problem was that this kit took copious amounts of work to fit properly. The front and rear bumper cladded parts are supposed to be prepped, painted and double taped on, but they weren't even approaching compatible with the lines of the bumper, and the mould for these was extremely poor (particular the tailpipe openings approaching the pan). I was told that jazejeff had tried in the past to mould these claddings to the bumper itself, but they never had luck, as it cracked apart shortly thereafter. Because there wasn't going to be a good way to repair the kit as received so that it fit with anything close to tight tolerances to the bumpers, I elected to rivet them on, and use a sandable plastic epoxy to bridge the gap instead. I just wanted to do it without impacting the OEM paint on the rest of the bumpers, so I carefully taped off the top part, and only worked on/painted the lower parts. See the rangerovers.net thread I linked to for a full explanation of the difficulty I had massaging this kit to work. I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy! |

I love the clear reflectors in the headlights. I wonder is the 2010 ambers the same size as the older ones. Also what about a smoked look instead of clear?

There is a thread on this topic @ rangerovers.net; it's as yet undetermined. A member there is interested in having me make a set of these for him, but he also has a 2011, and he's going to do a comparison. I've already told him that I'm willing to make a new mould for '10+ if they are different, so it sounds like he's going to provide a set of reflectors as mules to allow this. Pop over there and keep tabs: the answer will be forthcoming. ...and thank you for the compliment! I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy! |

I just tapped the sidemarker wire to power mine. I baked mine for 10 minutes @ 200; you always put it back in if it isn't enough... I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy! |

We've got to be a tad more careful than that... Our annual motor test has limits on brightness of sidelights etc and I do not want to fall foul of that.

My tapping of the sidemarker bulb wire did not affect the lumens of that side marker. Am I understanding your concern correctly?
It does. I used wide poly pry bars to avoid putting dents in the black housing itself, but I still got a bit of that (simply cosmetic anyway). I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy! |
