Damaged a rear tire, tires are at approx 50-60% what to buy?

Damaged a rear tire and it is not repairable. My tires on it now are still somewhat usable and decent, maybe 50-60%. I know you should buy all four tires when dealing with AWD and 4x4's. Do I or should I buy new tires all around? Buy just 1? I know I should buy all 4 but I do not want to spend all that money if I do not have to at this point. I'm running Toyo Proxies S/T's(275/40/20 106W) and are quite expensive($375CDN each) and I've found a pair of used Continental Sport Contact(which are on some RRS's from the factory)(275/40/20 110H) that are about 60% also for a good price. Would this work until my fronts wear out and then buy 4 tires next year?

Thanks in advance.

Just go for 2 as Timf says.

I remember reading somewhere that its important to keep the tread depth similar on the same axle, but there's certainly no need to change all 4. FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

who told you to replace all the tyres...your car is a proper four wheel drive not one of those little AWD thingys that are so fragile...I would just replace the one that was punctured unless the other one on that side needs replacing.

It does recommend in the book replacing all four.

Personally always replace in pairs (unless there is only a small number of miles difference) Mike
